Could you spare three hours once a month?

Reliable volunteers with outgoing and friendly personalities are needed to work in our Farm Shop. Our volunteers open and close the Shop and assist customers purchasing and ordering goods. We sell vegetables, eggs, plants, wooden garden furniture and greeting cards, all produced by prisoners at HMP Erlestoke. The Shop is open from late April until October, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 12 midday to 3 pm. Our volunteers usually work a minimum of one 3 hour day a month.

The Shop is outside the prison, opposite the Visitors’ Centre.

WANTED!

Farm Shop Co-ordinator

Part-time Volunteer Post

April - October

Erlestoke House Community Interest Company’s (EHCIC) Farm Shop sells vegetables, eggs, plants and garden furniture produced in Erlestoke Prison. Based just outside the prison, the Shop is open for three hours on four days a week during the summer months - on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 12 midday-3pm.

The Shop is staffed by local volunteers, and since opening has been administrated by our Manager, who no longer lives locally. We are now looking for a local volunteer to join our friendly and happy team to co-ordinate the weekly running of the shop and the volunteer staff on a part-time basis during the summer months. The shop opens in late April, and some administration is required before then. Responsibilities include organising the volunteers’ rota, liaising with volunteers and prison staff, maintaining and replenishing stock, responding to customer orders, dealing with invoices and takings and representing the volunteers at EHCIC meetings. There is no requirement to be at the Shop every day, and much of the work can be done via email.

The overall administration and financial management of the Shop will remain with the current Manager and members of the EHCIC Committee.

For more information, please contact Janine Hodson on 07917 691034, or email: janinehodson1@gmail.com

The Erlestoke House Farm Shop project is run for the men in HMP Erlestoke, helping them to gain skills together with fully accredited NVQ qualifications, while providing a unique outlet for the results of their work. The profits from the Farm Shop are reinvested and used to buy further supplies (such as seeds and wood), which ensures that the project is self funding. We also fund family days at the prison, when prisoners can spend time with their children.

CAKES

We very much regret that we are currently unable to supply any of our delicious Guilty Pleasure cakes, due to pressure of work and limited staffing in the Prison Kitchen.

NEW!

REFURBISHED BIKES FOR SALE

The Shop now has a stock of refurbished bicycles for sale at excellent prices.  These donated bikes have been refurbished by prisoners, and have been inspected to ensure they meet current safety standards.
